Ingredients
Scale
- 2 racks baby back ribs (or spare ribs)
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar (or broth)
- 1 ½ cups BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ribs
- Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better tenderness.
- Pat dry with paper towels and generously season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne (if using).
Step 2: Cook the Ribs in the Slow Cooker
- Place the ribs in the slow cooker, standing upright or layering if necessary.
- Pour apple cider vinegar (or broth) into the bottom of the slow cooker to keep the ribs moist.
- Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours (preferred) or HIGH for 3-4 hours until the ribs are tender and easily pull apart.
Step 3: Glaze and Broil for a Crispy Finish
- Preheat the broiler to high. Line a baking sheet with foil.
- Mix BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.
- Transfer ribs to the baking sheet, brush generously with the sauce, and broil for 3-5 minutes until caramelized.
Step 4: Serve and Enjoy
- Let the ribs rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve with extra BBQ sauce!
Notes
- For extra smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the slow cooker.
- If you prefer sweeter ribs, increase the brown sugar in the BBQ sauce.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
