Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)

Wet Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 ¼ cups)
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120ml) plain yogurt or sour cream (for extra moisture)

Add-ins:

  • ¾ cup (130g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Prepare the Wet Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
    • Stir in the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, and yogurt (or sour cream). Mix until well combined.
  • Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
    • Gently stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
  • Bake the Banana Bread:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
    • Sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
    • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (a few melted chocolate streaks are fine).
  • Cool & Serve:

    • Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
    • Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

  • Extra Moist Banana Bread: Use extra-ripe bananas with brown spots.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Freezing: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
  • Mix-ins: Swap chocolate chips for raisins, nuts, or coconut flakes for variety.
  • Lighter Option: Substitute half the butter with applesauce for a healthier version.
